Parking at Dublin Airport has become easier for passengers who use the QuickPark car park there, thanks to a new online reservation system developed by ParkMagic, the Limerick-based mobile payment and wireless technology specialists.
Drivers who want to park at Dublin airport can now log on to www.quickpark.ie to reserve their car parking space in advance, which means less time wasted queuing to park. The system is simple to use. After logging on to the website you enter the date, time of arrival and duration of stay and then check the availability of car parking spaces. A space can be reserved in advance with payment by credit or debit card. A significant advantage to business travellers is that they do not need to have the actual credit card used for the booking with them to access the car park. On payment, the web site issues a four digit pin code that is required for access. The driver enters the pin into a Net2 keypad on arrival at QuickPark where a space will have been pre-allocated. The same pin code is used to exit the car park.
ParkMagic will also offer its existing customers the facility to use their ParkMagic account to pay. An estimated 208,000 passengers park at Dublin airport each year. This new service is a further evolution of Parkmagic’s number recognition parking system, which was recently implemented at a car park in Limerick.
Paul Fitzgerald, ParkMagic Chief Executive Officer and co-founder said, “www.quickpark.ie is an example of how ParkMagic is continuously developing new applications for our technology which deliver convenience and value added services to car owners. We are aiming to capture 30% of the parking market at Dublin Airport with this new service, which is a further evolution of our recently launched number recognition payment system, removing the need for cash payment in any barrier controlled car park. This new technology is generating a lot of interest among car park operators in Ireland and we are also seeing significant interest in the system from UK and US operators.”
John O’Sullivan, Managing Director of QuickPark said, “Air travel has become much more stressful for both the business and leisure traveller and often, time is of the essence for passengers arriving at Dublin Airport. We wanted a system which would reduce this stress and provide an improved service for our customers. You can book your seat on the airplane in advance, check-in in advance and even book your luggage in advance so why not your car parking space? ParkMagic worked closely with us to develop an easy to use, secure system which not only allows the car owner to quickly park their car on arrival at the airport but which also means no more queuing at the machines to pay for your parking when you return from your travels”.
ParkMagic was founded in Limerick in 2005 by Philip Hayes and Paul Fitzgerald. The company opened its US office in 2006 and a UK office earlier this year. ParkMagic offers a range of integrated payment services and parking system solutions for public and private parking operators. Solutions cover both on street and off street operations and seamlessly interoperate with each other, serving customers throughout Ireland and most recently, in the United States.
quickpark.ie is a new online reservation system developed and powered by ParkMagic for QuickPark, in association with Paxton Access, developers of the Net2 access control system. The new online reservation software can be adapted to suit the needs of other car park operators.
The QuickPark car park is located on the Santry Road at Dublin Airport with a shuttle bus service to the terminal building every five minutes. QuickPark charges an hourly rate of €1 per hour or a €7.50 daily parking rate.
