Sage is now almost 30 years on the market and a leader in financial and business management systems for enterprises on these islands, especially from micro to large medium. Sage is proud of its record of continuous development. Our products have matured, expanded, embraced successive generations of technology and amassed a comprehensive catalogue of tailored solutions for specific sectors and types of business.

But although the Sage development teams have been responsible for that, in a great many respects the credit should actually go to our clients. Over the years, they have told us what they wanted and needed next, individually and collectively in sectoral groups. In the functionality of our products we have consistently tried to listen to our customers and their users and go where they indicated.

On the other hand, the technology is our responsibility. It is clearly up to us to follow closely but safely behind the leading edge, to take advantage of new tech when it is proven. Windows is a particularly appropriate example: we have been close Microsoft partners for well over two decades and have brought our customers along with every generation of Windows. In addition, we have ensured that Sage products always integrated smoothly with Microsoft Office as its complementary solution for better general business productivity.

This is why we moved to the cloud with Sage 200 Extra Online, the first of a new generation of Software-as-a-Service (Saas) online products aimed at giving our current and new customers an alternative or a complement to on-premises systems. We have received a rising level of feedback in the last couple of years suggesting that 50% or more of our market are or will be looking for cloud solutions over the next say three or four years. They are particularly looking at the advantages for scalability, flexibility and integration across all of their business activities. In general, we see the future of financial software and Business Management Solutions (BMS), Customer Relationship Management (CRM), Business Intelligence (BI) and many other business tools in the cloud.

Sage 200 has for some years been very popular for different sizes of enterprise. That is in large measure because it is a powerful suite that is aimed squarely at medium sized companies with up to around 50 regular users and perhaps a few hundred employees. In other words, the general mid-market business profile of these islands.

The core of all Sage software suites is financial accounting, naturally. But we have added other essential business management tools over time, notably CRM and BI. Sage 200 has a pedigree of industry customisation through Sage partners and an extensive library of add-ons. There is also a growing number of businesses looking for an online business management solution which will be happy to accept a standard package provided it is comprehensive — which is exactly what Sage 200 Extra Online provides. Its functionality can be customised for each company as readily as the on-promise version.
