Nvidia’s latest robotics chip module, the Jetson AGX Thor, is now available as a development kit for $3,499 (€3,000). With this powerful chip, dubbed the ‘brain of the robot’, companies can develop innovative robotic solutions. After developing a prototype using the kit, customers can purchase Thor T5000 modules to integrate into production-ready robots.

The Jetson Thor leverages Nvidia’s groundbreaking Blackwell GPU architecture and offers a significant performance boost. The chip is 7.5 times faster than its predecessor. This increased speed facilitates the execution of generative AI models, including large language models (LLMs) and the advanced visual systems that humanoid robots need to perceive and interact with their environment. With 128GB of memory, the Jetson Thor can efficiently handle demanding AI workloads.

In addition to humanoid robots, Nvidia also sees the Jetson Thor accelerating a wide range of robotic applications, such as surgical assistants, intelligent agricultural machinery, delivery robots, industrial manipulators, and visual AI agents.

Several companies, including Agility Robotics, Amazon, Meta, and Boston Dynamics, are already using Nvidia’s Jetson chips in their robotics projects. Nvidia has also demonstrated its commitment to robotics through strategic investments in companies such as Field AI. Although robotics currently accounts for a relatively small portion of Nvidia’s revenue (about 1%), it is growing rapidly.

Nvidia recently restructured its business units, merging the automotive and robotics divisions into a single unit. This combined division reported quarterly revenue of $567 million in May, an impressive 72% year-on-year increase.
