Rumours are circulating that Nokia may be interested in releasing smartphone using Windows Phone 7. If true this could be a bad omen for Symbian – once the world’s leading smartphone OS.
Following the release of a lacklustre range of smartphones for the Christmas period (the N8 chief among them), Nokia CEO and former Microsoft exec Stephen Elop could be about to demote Symbian’s sub-par user experience in favour of the more contemporary Microsoft option.
The relegation of Symbian could also bring with it another reshuffle at boardroom level in the Finnish company.
