Come autumn, it is no secret that all eyes will be focused on Apple’s revamped iPhone line-up. And though the iPhone continues to account for the vast majority of Apple’s revenue, the company is hardly ignoring other products in its line-up.
Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, who has a quite impeccable track record with respect to Apple rumours, recently issued a research report relaying that Apple this coming autumn has plans to introduce a bevy of new products.
First off, we have the Apple Watch. Though Apple still has not disclosed official sales figures, Tim Cook during the company’s earnings conference call yesterday indicated that sales thus far have exceeded expectations. Sales aside, Kuo writes that Apple is planning to introduce new Apple Watch Sport colour options this fall, with yellow and rose gold reportedly being considered. Note, though, that the new colour options aren’t in relation to the band, but rather to the anodised aluminium casing.
Next, we have Apple’s tried and true iMac. It has been quite a while since Apple refreshed the iMac with substantive upgrades, but that may be about to change in the coming months. According to Kuo, Apple is hoping to release new iMacs either late in September or sometime in early October. While Kuo did not touch on what type of enhancements Apple might bestow upon the iMac, previous reports have pointed to a 546mm (21.5”) model with beefed up internals and an eye-popping 4K display.
Third, we have the iPad. Sales of Apple’s tablet have cooled down considerably in recent months, but Tim Cook has emphasised over and over that he believes in the long-term potential of the tablet market. That said, Kuo believes that Apple next quarter will release a smaller version of the iPad Air 2, though he does not quite clarify if this will come in the form of a revamped iPad Mini. Interestingly enough, Kuo did not touch on the iPad Pro, the long-rumoured 328mm (12.9”) iPad that Apple is reportedly hoping to bring to market sometime before the busy holiday shopping season.
