Music streaming service Deezer says more than 18% of new content is AI-generated
Music streaming platform Deezer is experiencing a surge in artificial intelligence-generated music. More than 20,000 fully AI-composed tracks are uploaded to the platform daily, representing more than 18% of all new music content. This figure is up significantly from the 10% reported in January 2025, when Deezer introduced its advanced AI music detection tool.
Deezer’s chief innovation officer Aurelien Herault highlighted the continued influx of AI-generated content on streaming platforms and the need for responsible development. He emphasised the potential benefits of generative AI for music creation and consumption while stressing the importance of protecting artists’ rights and revenue streams. Deezer’s commitment to transparency is reflected in the removal of fully AI-generated tracks from algorithmic recommendations.
Deezer’s AI music detection tool sets a new standard for the industry. It can accurately identify 100% AI-generated music, even from models such as Suno and Udio. The system is customisable and can be trained to detect content generated by other similar tools.
In particular, Deezer has made progress in developing a system that can detect AI-generated content without requiring specific training datasets.
The rise of AI-generated music coincides with growing concerns about the ethical implications of AI development.
Issues include the potential misuse of copyrighted material for AI training and discussions about weakening copyright laws to accelerate the advancement of AI. Deezer is the only streaming platform to have signed the global declaration on AI training, demonstrating its commitment to artists and creatives.
