Motorola Solutions has officially opened its Global Research and Development Centre in Cork, Ireland, focused on software design for its public safety land mobile radio portfolio. The sophisticated software and applications developed at the centre help increase the safety and efficiency of first responders.

The company has hired nearly 200 employees based at Navigation Square, with roles spanning software engineering, design, development, testing, quality assurance and management. The team is dedicated to continued innovation in LMR, which is engineered for ‘five-nines’ (99.999%) availability.

“We are incredibly proud to officially open our new global R&D centre in Cork,” said Mahesh Saptharishi, executive vice president and chief technology officer, Motorola Solutions. “Today’s LMR extends highly resilient voice capabilities to AI and advanced data applications.
