Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation Richard Bruton is intent on delivering the message to Silicon Valley that Ireland is open for business. Minister Bruton is about to undertake a week long trade and investment mission to California where he will meet with representatives from a number of large technology corporations.
The message that the Irish delegation will be delivering to the US is that “Ireland is open for business” as our corporate tax rate will not be changed. Minister Bruton is confident that the US will continue to view Ireland as an attractive investment location.
Highlighting the importance of this trade mission, Minister Bruton stated that “the US remains the largest source for inward investment to Ireland.” He added that, “US companies contribute greatly to the strategic regional focus with investments from corporations such as Boston Scientific in Galway, Genzyme in Waterford and Abbot in Sligo.”
Presently Ireland is home to approximately 500 US corporations, employing in excess of 100,000 people. New and established multinationals are continuing to invest in Ireland and locate their operations here making Ireland globally recognised as a location of choice for the world’s largest technology corporations.
Minister Bruton concluded by stating that his focus “will be to secure new investments or further investments from innovative US companies particularly in the IT, Gaming and BioPharma sectors. This is crucial to our export-led recovery and economic success.”
