Meta is adjusting its vision of the digital future. Where the Facebook name had to give way to ‘Meta’, because: metaverse is the future, now the group is now closing the production studios of those meta worlds.

Meta has just closed three of its VR studios, including Armature, Sanzaru and Twisted Pixel. The VR fitness app Supernatural will no longer be updated with new content.

The tech giant actually has a new gleam in its eye: connected glasses. Glasses with tiny electronics inside and an Internet connection.

Money that used to go to metaverses is now going to wearables using augmented over virtual reality, where additinoal information is projected into transparent screens.

During the latest conference call with investors and analysts, ceo Mark Zuckerberg said: “Work on the Ray-Ban Meta and Oakley Meta products is going well. I think if it continues to go as it is now, it will prove to be a very profitable investment.”

“I think that if it continues to go as it is now, it will prove to be a very profitable investment.
“I think we will generate revenue by selling the devices and also through additional services and the AI that comes on top of it. The investment here is certainly not just to develop a device. It is also meant to build services on top of it.”

There was no comment made about VR, a refresh of Oculus headsets or the metaverse.
