Assist Training & Consultancy has acquired A1 Computer Training in a bid to become one of the leading IT training providers in the Mid-West. 

Assist director Petrina O’Donnell said she expected the demand for professional computer training to increase significantly over the coming year, in spite of the slowdown in the economy.

‘Whereas it has been an employee’s market in recent years, increased competition for the decreasing employment opportunities that now exist makes accredited professional qualifications more important than they have been for a long time,’ she said. 

Both firms are based in Limerick. Assist has traditionally been involved in the corporate market whereas A1 specialised in providing individual training to users. The company now plans to grow its revenue to more than EUR1m over the next five years.
