Investment wave: Kernel Capital’s Orla Rimmington, left with Enterprise Minister Batt O’ Keeffe, Wave Break CEO Sean Prior, and Bank of Ireland’s Lorraine Spillane
Cork-based media production company Wave Break has landed €350k in investment. The firm produces High Definition (HD) royalty free broadcast film footage and provides animation services.
CEO Sean said the investment would help strengthen the firm’s core offering.
The investment was organised by venture capital company Kernel Capital and led by the Bank of Ireland Seed and Early Stage Equity Fund.
Wavebreak’s stock media is seeing an average of 15,000 customer downloads monthly. Wavebreak sells its stock media through a distribution network that includes Getty Images and Corbis Motion.
Kernel Capital’s notes: “Wavebreak is an excellent example of a high-potential smart economy start-up that has generated significant traction in acquiring tier-one international clients such as FoxSports, Channel 4, MTV and the ITN group.”
Donal Duffy, head of Enterprise Ireland Relations at Bank of Ireland, said the investment would enable Wave Break to drive its growth aspirations.
