Mapping innovation from Agri Department

The Department of Agriculture has developed an innovative new Internet-based land mapping system that has re-engineered its traditional systems of land management.

Developed in association with Accenture, iMap is a single integrated system that combines the processing of both spatial and non-spatial data for Area Aid and other land based support schemes. The new system allows the Department to dramatically streamline interaction with farmers when processing their EU Area Aid payments. This single view reduces the time required to process a claim submitted by a farmer and ensures accuracy and consistency of the data provided.

iMap has already delivered significant business results; the new system has electronically processed and delivered over EUR1bn in EU Funding to farmers in Ireland, with 99 per cent compliance.
