Cable & Wireless has won a EUR* 400,000 contract to provide managed hosting for global online gaming community Gala Networks Europe (GNE) at its Dublin data centre. The initial two-year contract covers building, hosting, management and network connectivity for GNE’s European online gaming platform.
GNE, having decided to move its core infrastructure closer to its European market base, chose C&W as the one data centre that met all its criteria, including capacity, resilience, security and having a proven track record. In addition, it connects directly to C&W’s high-speed global IP network. Cable & Wireless also provides GNE with consultancy and management services, and the flexibility to increase its hosting footprint in Ireland as it grows its European business.
C&W has six data centres across Ireland and the UK.
GNE is part of the Gala Group, which has its global headquarters in Japan. Gala’s service portfolio includes Flyff and Space Cowboy Online. Through its community portal, gPotato, gamers can access all of Gala’s services and micro-currency, which can be used to buy in-game currency and virtual items for any of its games. The Flyff Online game alone has over one million registered users.
GNE’s chief operating officer, Gus Hur, commented: “We wanted a reputable data centre partner that could provide us with the highest quality technical infrastructure and a scaleable platform.”
C&W sales manager Fergal McKenna added: “We have the expertise to build, monitor and future-proof GNE’s investment as it expands.”
