Inspired by ‘Ingenious Ireland’, the award-winning book by Mary Mulvihill that takes readers on a county by county tour of Irish invention, Ingenious Ireland Online (www.ingeniousirelandonline.ie, or Éire Intliúil) explores Irish science and technology, innovation and ingenuity, investigates the science behind stories, gives real-life career case studies, and provides learning activities and curriculum links for schools.
Available in both Irish and English, the online resource is packed with multimedia wizardry, including podcasting and animations, and with content specially authored by science teachers and curriculum experts. To mark the launch of the new resource, school children aged 11-16 can also enter a competition online to win an Ipod Nano. To enter, children will upload an image of scientific or local interest and add their own explanatory text.
