LinkedIn has appointed Liam Halpin as senior director of sales solutions for Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

The company said in his new role, Halpin will help salespeople, marketers and business development professionals to more effectively identify the right prospects, stay informed with relevant updates and build trusted relationships with new customers.

LinkedIn is the largest professional network and boasts some 433 million members worldwide.

Halpin joins the company from Dell where he spent five years in a number of senior positions, most recently as executive director client solutions for Western European and the Russia/CIS Region. Previously, he served as general manager for Dell Ireland.

“We are delighted to have Liam join the LinkedIn team and lead sales solutions for EMEA,” said John Herlihy, vice president and managing director, EMEA, LinkedIn. “He brings a wealth of knowledge and more than 25 years of top-level experience working with a wide variety of clients ranging from SMEs to public institutions. This is a very important region for LinkedIn and Liam will play a key role in growing our newest line of business here.”

“The way in which businesses effectively engage their customers has changed with the rise of social media,” said Halpin. “LinkedIn is at the forefront of enabling more businesses to effectively build relationships with new customers through social selling. I’m very excited to help them make their organisations more successful, and build upon the great work already being done in EMEA.”
