Liberty IT opens STEAM Studio
Liberty IT and Galway City Museum hosted an exclusive after-hours event to celebrate the recent launch of STEAM Studio, a unique partnership designed to inspire the next generation of tech talent.
A Night at the Museum gave guests, including Liberty IT employees and representatives from local organisations and businesses, including Galway City Council, University of Galway, and Innovation Technology AtlanTec Gateway (ITAG), and a special preview of how students from across Galway are benefiting from the free, interactive workshop which brings together science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics (STEAM) through creativity and coding.
STEAM Studio gives Junior Cycle students hands-on experience creating their own games using Microsoft MakeCode Arcade, drawing inspiration from the museum’s rich art collection and maritime heritage, focusing on the Galway Hooker. The programme is provided free of charge to schools, including transportation ensuring it is accessible to all schools across the Galway region.
At the event, guests were able to enjoy an exclusive look behind the scenes of the new STEAM Studio, meet Liberty IT’s STEAM ambassadors and take part in a hands-on coding demo. They also had the opportunity to explore the museum’s exhibitions after hours and see first-hand how technology and heritage have come together to spark creativity and inspire young people to consider a career in tech.
