Lenovo and Nvidia join forces to accelerate the deployment of data centres
Lenovo, the world’s largest PC manufacturer, has announced a partnership with Nvidia to help AI cloud providers roll out data centres quickly. The move is intended to strengthen Lenovo’s position in the AI market.
The announcement was made during the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas and featured an AI platform alongside concept devices and Motorola’s first foldable smartphone.
The data centre programme will use Lenovo’s hybrid liquid-cooled AI infrastructure, combined with Nvidia’s computing platforms, to cut deployment time for AI cloud providers down to a matter of weeks.
Yang Yuanqing, CEO of Lenovo, together with Jensen Huang, CEO of Nvidia, highlighted the groundbreaking nature of the Lenovo AI Cloud Gigafactory with Nvidia. This facility sets a new standard for scalable AI factory design and enables the rapid rollout of advanced AI environments.
In addition to the data center programme, Lenovo unveiled Qira, a personal AI system that runs on Lenovo and Motorola PCs, phones, tablets and wearables. Lenovo pointed to Qira’s potential for integration with third party services such as Expedia.
The company also presented a concept for AI glasses, entering a market that is already being served by Alibaba and Samsung Electronics, and showcased a wearable AI assistant under the name Project Maxwell, designed to provide real-time support to the user.
