Two new large format printers from HP — the Designjet 5500 and the Designjet 100 — are aimed at the high-end professional and the individual user respectively.
The Designjet 5500 is intended for print service providers, GIS and graphic professionals. Its new production print mode delivers sellable print output at high speeds: 9.3m2/h on HP Glossy media and 17.6m2/h using HP Coated media. It has a range of intelligent features such as direct printing from file using the printer’s WebAccess tool for seven commonly used file formats, including PDF and TIFF.
It also allows for flexible use of dye or UV inks and a wide range of media for graphics and CAD/CAM on the same printing system.
The Designjet 100 is an affordable desktop inkjet suited for organisations with printing requirements for a wide range of media sizes, up to A1, and from different types of applications, such as CAD, diagramming or general office software.
It offers image quality up to 1200dpi and accurately prints line drawings and colour images. It prints text documents at up to 11page/min for letter size in Fast mode and 90s per page for an A1-size drawing in Fast mode.
Standard documents from Office software can be output from the machine’s A4-A3 tray. For larger prints, there is a flexible paper feed for A5, A2 and A1 sheets.
