Kompass phone directory on CD Rom

Kompass Directories has launched PhonePages, which has full national telephone listings accessible on CD-Rom. The CD lists more than 1m residential and business phone numbers, in addition to postal addresses, business fax details and Web URLs. All the material a sales force could want is there, whether you’re planning a cold calling campaign or a mailshot.

Kompass claims that using directory enquiries is an expensive and inefficient way for businesses to seek contact details for suppliers or customers. It is pitching the PhonePages CD at price-conscious organisations. Kompass marketing manager Michael McGowan commented: ‘directory enquiries is an unnecessary cost for most businesses and it is cost that can now be greatly reduced — sometimes by over 97 per cent’.

Per-minute call charges to directory enquiries numbers vary from 49.44c (with 11850*) to 52c (11811*). Kompass calculated that in a small company, five people making three such calls each day would result in a cost o more than EUR1,600.

The CD can be loaded on to a user’s local machine or accessed over a network. It doesn’t require an Internet connection and there are no restrictions on how many numbers a user can search for across all seven dialling code areas. In addition, listings can be retrieved by a number of criteria including county, district or by line of address. Numbers of business headquarters as well as branch offices are returned simultaneously.

PhonePages CD costs EUR39 ex-VAT. Large companies qualify for bulk discounted flat rate versions of the directory. To order, call 1890-924072*.
