Several senior management and key technical personnel from Moss Technology have set up a new professional services company called TechNiche, lead by Gareth Madden, former Moss sales director and ex-technical director, Vincent Wynne.

The company, which will be part of the DCM Group, has already secured several lucrative accounts on account of the reputation of the ex-Moss team, who left the company shortly after it was taken over by Calyx.

‘There is a widely held belief that since the take over of Moss Technology there is a gap in the market place for a solutions provider whose ethos is solution specific project delivery and quality of service,’ said Madden.

TechNiche will specialise in the design, configuration, integration and support of functions specific business and holds accredited partnerships with companies such as Citrix, Microsoft, SurfControl and Dell, among others.

‘Joining the DCM Group was a perfect fit to continue this work to the high level that clients expect from their chosen technology partners.’

The company will focus on Citrix based products and offer services such as network consultancy and design, remote support for high-end operating systems and network security services.

The launch of TechNiche comes hot on the heels of the sale last month of the DCM Group’s voice maintenance business to Diacom, a voice telecoms business led by ex-DCM employee, Bill Lloyd. DCM Group says it will concentrate on selling voice and data products together with developing data network and managed services. Dublin based Diacom has gained and will service 600 existing voice maintenance contracts. In addition, Diacom is taking over all service level agreements and technical staff.

‘The integration of the DCM base now affords Diacom with increased economies of scale and a critical mass of customers will enable us to leverage our purchasing power with systems manufacturers,’ said Bill Lloyd, director of Diacom.

He said that Diacom would now be well placed to thrive in the voice, VoIP and video conferencing market. The company has a number of distributorships, including Tandberg, Tadiran and Siemens.

The two companies are said to have worked closely together since Lloyd left DCM to start up Diacom ten years ago. The majority of customers who transfer business to Diacom will also remain as DCM Group customers, according to Alan Long, managing director of DCM Group. He said DCM will aggressively pursue a threefold increase in its data accounts over the 18 months.

‘We are retaining all existing administrative, sales and data network technical staff and our aim is to recruit an additional 10 technical staff to join our experienced team in delivering new data products and services throughout Ireland and the UK. We are also retaining all the existing voice sales staff in order to continue to provide total solution offerings to our customer base.’

In addition, DCM Group will increase its overall number of distribution channels throughout the UK and Ireland.
