JumpStart, the annual start-up competition hosted at The LINC centre at the Institute of Technology Blanchardstown, has opened for entries.

This year’s competition has a €25,000 prize fund and is open to entrepreneurs whose business is less than two years old and is looking to build its export potential.

This year the entrepreneurs can apply for one of three category prizes: women in business; technology; and innovation in food. From these entries an overall winner will be chosen.

The overall winner will receive €4,000 plus €2,000 for winning their category. The other category winners will also be awarded €2,000 each.

The overall winner also receives a package of supports including 12 months incubation space; boardroom facilities; public relation services for one full day from Aspire PR; one year of telephoning answering service from Kendlebell Kimmage; a meeting with Enterprise Ireland to identify options for further support; and mentoring.

Category winners will have access to the Create, Learn, Grow programme to develop their business as well as the option to attend industry specific seminars and access to the academic expertise of the Institute.

Entries will go before a panel of judges led by entrepreneur Bobby Kerr.

“I have been a judge with JumpStart for five years now and every year I am excited to see who will come before us,” said Kerr. “I have met some inspiring entrepreneurs over the years and it’s exciting to see such innovation mixed with the enthusiasm, work ethic and committment of the entrepreneurs.

Application forms can be downloaded from www.thelinc.ie/jumpstart with a closing date for applications on 16 October. The shortlist will be announced on 27 October with the winners being announced on 17 November at the LINC.
