Twitter may be the Web’s favourite app but, despite its popularity, it has yet to be fully tapped as a corporate communication tool. This problem has been addressed, possibly, by Web content management vendor Jadu with the launch of a dedicated module for the micro-blogging site in its Jadu software.

Jadu CMS Client for Twitter is designed to help organisations tap into the power of Twitter to improve knowledge management, customer service and brand management initiatives, according to Jadu.

Available as a free upgrade, the module allows users to tweet, re-tweet and search from within the content management system. Crucially, it has a storage function which could be particularly useful for public sector organisations that need to respond to freedom of information requests, according to Jadu.

The module also incorporates an ‘attitudes’ filter which can allow firms to track their brands by monitoring positive and negative tweets.

Jadu is not the first example of the Twitter model applied to business. Launched at last year’s TechCrunch 50 start-up event, corporate Twitter clone Yammer won widespread acclaim as a project management and internal communications tool.
