Spambusting IronPort Systems has launched what it says is the the world’s fastest e-mail security appliance, alongside ‘Blocker’, a powerful, self-contained and easily configurable security product for smaller businesses, which is based upon its reputation-based filtering systems for larger enterprises.
The new IronPort X1050 email security appliance is designed to cut through crushing spamv volumes. It can scan more than 2.5 million messages per hour, 400 times more processing power than IronPort’s previous generation of carrier-class appliances, the IronPort X1000. The US-based company says it offers as much as ten times the performance of competing systems. The performance increase is enabled by IronPort’s latest generation of highly parallelized email security appliances and allows enterprise and ISP customers to easily deal with constantly growing spam volumes without constantly adding more systems to their infrastructure.
Marking IronPort’s first foray into the small business sector, ‘The Blocker’ recognises a demand amongst smaller businesses for the higher levels of protection currently demanded by larger enterprises. David Byrne, Partner Manager, IronPort Systems, said: “SMEs face the same IT security threats as enterprises, sometimes with worse consequences, as they have fewer resources to deal with the disruption caused by viruses and spam. Until now however, there has been limited protection specifically tailored for their needs. Blocker has already been well received by US SMEs and the Irish market looks set to be equally receptive.”
Blocker uses the industry’s most advanced reputation filtering technology, based on IronPort’s SenderBase network to stop spam, viruses and anomalies in a fully automated manner. It costs around 2000 euros for a year’s subscription. ends
