Interactive Web adverts for the future

Commercial Websites of the future will be able to include interactive motion pictures that display a TV-style advertisement but will also contain icons or buttons that viewers can activate to access more information, order a sample of the product or service or indeed  make an outright purchase.

A new suite of products called Webrom, available in Ireland from EMA, allows content providers to include interactive facilities into digital movies which can be played over the Internet. The Webrom TV Studio is the production tool that allows professional presentations to be produced and distributed. It also allows the embedding of existing Web pages with digital movies.

Completed presentations can be deployed to the Web, using the Webrom Global Network, a network of around 60 data centres, none of them in Ireland, from which the presentations can be viewed.

Unfortunately, such presentations are unlikely to be viewable unless one has a broadband Internet connection, so an alternative purpose to which the Studio can be put is the development of training and educational content that can be transmitted over a high-bandwidth corporate network.
