Ireland’s domestic economy and employment rate may make for grim reading, but the tech sector is facing a challenge in filling jobs; in fact, there are 2,500 jobs currently unfilled in the ICT sector in Ireland. That’s according to CloudArena’s Dave Feenan, who was speaking at the second of three events on cloud computing in the National College of Ireland this week.

The event, entitled ‘It’s CRM Jim, but not as we know it’, took place at NCI, located in the IFSC. Keynote speakers included representatives from Microsoft, Fujitsu and IBM.

Feenan said: “As was published in the Fine Gael Plan for Government, Cloud computing has been highlighted as a potential pillar of growth for the Irish technology industry – we need to exploit this opportunity.”

Commenting on the feedback from attendees at the event, CloudArena director Jennifer Boyle said: “We have aimed to create an open forum for business owners as well as technologists interacting in the IT space, to integrate with those at the cutting edge of technology.”
