The Irish Computer Society and ICS Skills, its training and certification arm, have taken on the management of the Business Analysts Association of Ireland (BAAI) and its HETAC-certified qualification, the Certificate in Business Analysis.

ICS Skills, a provider of strategic training for data protection officers, project managers, IT architects and managers will undertake the promotion and administration of the education programme in conjunction with the National College of Ireland. The ICS will extend all of its member services and benefits to the Association and, under the guidance of a committee including founder Phil Chambers, will develop a programme of continuous professional development for practising Business Analysts.

The aim of the Business Analysts Association of Ireland is to establish the role of the business analyst as an essential and important management role within organisations. The course has certified 383 business analysts to date.

Under the new agreement the Association will expand its offering to include a membership body for business analysts in addition to increased events and networking opportunities to support business analysts working in Ireland.

CEO of the Irish Computer Society, Jim Friars, said: "We are proud to formally announce this agreement with the Business Analysts Association. Since 2005 Phil Chamber has done a fantastic job to build the Association and to produce education support for this critical role which was so lacking. Partnering together will provides a strategic platform to ensure that we can enhance and expand the services to support the business analyst’s profession across Ireland. It truly is an exciting time and opportunity."

Business Analysts Association founder Phil Chamber will continue to serve on the committee. "This move we feel will enable ICS Skills, with its extensive resources and network, to bring the association to its full potential," he said.
"It will achieve this by further establishing the essential management role of the business analyst and by developing a professional and dynamic institute for business analysts. It will also increase the number of certificate courses in business analysis [HETAC level 8] per year and also the number of course locations."
