HP Ireland today announced it will be creating 100 jobs through an investment in OpenStack cloud services at its facility in Ballybrit, Galway, due to be completed next year.

This investment is part of the company’s plans to expand the HP Helion portfolio of cloud products and services. The HP cloud research and development team in Galway played a large role in delivering HP’s public cloud – one of the largest OpenStack-based public clouds in the world.

The new employees will become members of the OpenStack community, contributing design blueprints, new code, bug fixes and code reviews.

“Our customers are looking for open solutions, and to be able to create, deploy and manage IT workloads in hybrid cloud environments,” said Mark Gantly, managing director, HP Galway. “The technologies being developed here in our Galway R&D facility are at the forefront of HP’s OpenStack-based Helion program and will play a key role in future development of global cloud services from HP.”
