HP brings the Internet to pieces of paper

Hewlett Packard announced the launch of their new Photosmart Premium with TouchSmart Web, the world’s first Internet-connected home printer.

The TouchSmart Web will feature the largest touch screen on the printer market at 4.33″, through which users can access dedicated applications. The printer can connect through either Wi-Fi, Bluetooth a landline connections.

Available applications include, news stories can be printed from USA Today, Web Sudoku will provide puzzles, and Coupons Inc. will offer coupons and recipes. Google’s many functions will allow users to print their e-mails, calendar schedules, and maps.

Children’s networks DreamWorks Animation and Nickelodeon will provide colouring sheets, word searches, and more games, plus movie trailers to watch on screen.

The TouchSmart Web can includes fax, photocopier and scanner functionality. It also has options to connect to the Apple iPhone/iPod touch, all of which connect to the HP iPrint Photo app.
