The Healthcare Informatics Society of Ireland (HISI) is holding its annual conference in conjunction with this year’s EUROREC Conference in Dublin’s Stillorgan Park Hotel between Wednesday November 12th and Saturday November 15th. The event will also include a meeting and seminar organised by the Microsoft Health Users Group.

The EUROREC conference is organised by the EUROREC Institute, which was set up to lead, support and co-ordinate a number of national ProRec centres and to provide services relating to electronic health records (EHRs). National ProRec centres were established under the ProRec (Promotion strategy for European electronic health records) project, which was part of the European Commission’s IV Framework Programme. Previous EUROREC conferences have been held in Paris, Berlin, Seville and Aix-en-Provence.

In addition to standard HISI scientific, educational and technical presentations, the joint conference will focus on electronic health records. According to HISI chairman, Gerard Hurl, it will look at the real issues that need to be addressed in the context of optimising patient care and healthcare delivery by identifying and supporting the clinical, organisational and business rationale and processes for electronic patient record (EPR) development and implementation.
