Paragon scalable Cat5-based products from Raritan offer centralised, out-of-band server management. The new Paragon 2-user, 16-port Matrix Switching Unit (UMT2161) is an all-Category 5 UTP cable-based KVM switch for small to mid-sized data centres and server rooms.

The new switching unit offers enhanced cable management, extended distances, modular architecture and easy expandability. It is the first Paragon model to feature a local KVM user port, for access via PS/2 or Sun keyboard right at the server rack. A Cat5 user port provides convenient access up to 1,000 feet away from the rack.

Access is totally non-blocked so that two users can access up to 16 multiplatform servers simultaneously. The UMT2161 allows an administrator to gain access at the rack and another access point in the network operations centre or at his desk.

The device is contained in a small, rack-mountable 1U form factor, and, as a member of the Paragon family, it is easily expanded to support additional servers and users.
