Although LCD monitors may still be viewed by some with suspicion, especially when it comes to colour-critical work, they are more than suitable for everyday office use — and they look good too.

The ProphetView 920 is a 17-inch LCD monitor that comes in a sleek casing in a choice of two colours (blue and silver or black), making it a stylish addition to your desktop. Its 17-in diagonal viewable panel delivers crisp graphics and text, and for those who need accurate on-screen colour reproduction, the 920 definitely delivers.

An auto-adjust button is a useful feature for switching between text and graphics work, ensuring you get the most out of your monitor.

The settings can be manually adjusted through a series of on-screen menus.

The ProphetView Tester program comes with the monitor and allows you to adjust colour and contrast, providing several screens to ensure you have the correct settings to use your monitor most effectively.

The monitor is Plug and Play compatible and works with a VGA graphics board.

The monitor’s recommended resolution is 1280×1024 pixels, which allows a reasonable horizontal viewing angle of 150 degrees and vertical of 130 degrees. Energy-conscious consumers will like the low power consumption; it uses 35 Watts in power-on mode and less than four in stand-by. Colour temperature settings can also be altered from 9800 and 6500k to user and office settings.

Perfect for those with a very limited amount of office space, the ProphetView can be wall mounted, so you aren’t confined to keeping it on your desk. The stand is quite compact, making sure it takes up as little room as possible on your desk. It has a backward tilt of 20 degrees, but it cannot be moved from side to side. Depending on what you want to use this monitor for, this could be viewed as a disadvantage.
