I have noticed of late the volume of classic Nigerian 419 scams coming into my private mailboxes has increased dramatically.
Now these scams have been going for many years now and do not require great leaps forward in technology to work in their basic principles.
However, it did set me thinking.
If the current economic climate is now pushing these cyber tricksters to new lengths to try to snare people with the promise of vast sums of easy money, what has it prompted the well funded, highly skilled cyber criminals to do?
The very nature of the security industry is that it can sometimes be a very reactive activity. Despite being on the cutting edge of developing protection for enterprise, there is also an element of simply having to wait to see what these nefarious people unleash before acting to try to stop them and repair the damage.
