Server and storage specialist Redstone Technology has won a contract to design, deploy and support a server and storage platform for Meteor Mobile Communications’ new billing system.
The setup will be built on a EUR*1.2 million, HP-based system comprising HP Integrity rx8640 servers with dual core Itanium 2 processors running HP-UX 11i. These are back-ended by HP StorageWorks XP12000 disk array.
Redstone MD Declan Van Esbeck commented: “Meteor understands that a stable platform for such a critical system is essential, and their team put reliability and scalability at the centre of their design brief. The configuration will deliver both, having been designed with multiple redundancies and the expansion capacity to meet their growth targets.”
Meteor’s IT director, Tony Stewart-Lord, pointed out that Meteor Ireland’s network now had over 875,000 customers and over 18% market share.
