Panasonic HX-A500

If you want to record your next climb up a cliff in extreme detail, Panasonic is offering a high resolution wearable camera that shoots in 4K at 30 frames per second progressive.
The waterproof, dustproof HX-A500 can go underwater to a depth of 3 meters for 30 minutes. It comes in two parts, a 31g lens unit and a 119g body unit, that are linked by a cable.
The body unit has a 1.5″ LCD monitor for playback as well as NFC (near field communication) for linking to a Wi-Fi connection on a smartphone or other mobile device.
The camera can also capture slow motion video at 200, 100 or 50 frames-per-second. An associated app can send footage to streaming site UStream for live broadcasts.
On sale in the UK this May.

ZTE Nubia X6

ZTE’s Nubia X6 phablet has a 6.4″ smartphone, Qualcomm’s newest Snapdragon 801 quad-core processor, and a massive 4250 mAh battery. In addition, it has two 13MP cameras, one in the front, the other in the back.
The X6 has a 1080p screen that packs in 344 pixels per inch. The aluminum-cased handset also has dual speakers, slots for two SIM cards, and comes in configurations with either 2Gb or 3Gb of RAM.
The phone runs Android 4.3 with ZTE’s Nubia 2.0 user interface. ZTE incorporated a split screen function so that users can view separate apps at the same time on the large screen.
The X6 goes on sale in China this week and will probably be released in other markets later in the year.

Samsung NX mini

Measuring 110.4×61.9×22.5mm and 196g before adding a lens, Samsung is putting the NX mini at the mid-point between smartphone and system camera. Using a 20.5MP BSI CMOS Sensor with 6fps Continuous Shot mode, 1/16000 sec Shutter Speed and has an ISO up to 12800 (25600 extended range), the NX mini has a 3″ flip and touch LCD screen, HDMI 1.3a, Wi-Fi and NFC with one-touch upload to Dropbox and Flickr.
Younger users could well be enamoured with a ‘blink to selfie’ function uses facial cues to automatically take selfies.
Novelty factor aside, the NX mini’s trump card is the choice of 15 interchangeable lenses, which might be enough to persuade the camera-curious to put their phones away for a bit.

HTC One M8

HTC’s One was arguably the Android smarthone of te year for 2013, in terms of build quality, anyway. This year sees the arrival of the m8, which continues where the One left off in nomenclature and quality.
Specswise, the m8 boasts a 5.0″, 1080p display; 2.3GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 quad-core processor; 2Gb RAM; 32Gb storage; MicroSD expandable storage; 5MP front camera and HTC UltraPixel rear camera; 802.11ac Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.0 connectivity.
