Fujitsu adds SMB server to PRIMERGY line

Fujitsu will be adding a new tower server to its product portfolio this month.

The PRIMERGY TX200 S5 is a dual socket server aimed at small businesses or branches of enterprises. It features two Intel Xeon 5500 processors and can be configured with up to 16 2.5-inch hard drives negating the need for extra storage.

Joe Duran, product manager for enterprise servers at Fujitsu, said: “The completely redesigned chassis, power and cooling system delivers cost effective performance and the ability to scale with business needs today and into the future.”

Memory can be expanded by up to 96Gb of DDR3 ECC and features a hot-spare mode, making a third memory module automatically copy what is running in case the first two fail.

It also features an energy efficient special hot-plug version power supply which Fujitsu claimed can cut power by 89%, which in turn will reduce both cost and impact to the environment.

The unit will be available from 15 August, but orders are currently being accepted.
