Odenberg Engineering, the Dublin-based supplier of equipment to the international food processing sector, is replacing its IT applications with Microsoft Dynamics NAV across Europe and the US.

Odenberg employs 38 people in Dublin, where it concentrates its research and engineering resources on developing and manufacturing food-processing machinery. This includes equipment for peeling, sorting, freezing and chilling, as well as assembly machines that can contain up to 1,500 parts.

Working with Dublin-based Sysco Software Solutions, a certified partner of Microsoft Ireland, Odenberg is deploying Microsoft Dynamics NAV, with Sysco supporting the installation, deployment and training for the new system.

Sysco MD Charlie Donnelly said: “Our engineers were able to work closely with Odenberg to tailor the solution to the specific multi-language and function needs across the company’s facilities.”

Odenberg group IT manager Gus Phipps said: “The way we have been able to go global with it has been a huge advantage. We can easily generate reports that actually give users the data they need, when they need it.”

Phipps says that all departments at Odenberg have seen major productivity gains since Dynamics NAV was installed, and reckons that the firm has saved 30% of the time usually spent on doing monthly accounts. Sales staff have greater access to historical data, and the firm’s Slovakian facility has doubled production since its move from Dublin.
