Almost eight in every ten senior Irish executives interviewed are planning to increase their e-commerce spending over the next year.

Entitled Unexpected eIreland, the report is part of an overall in-depth European report by Accenture and has revealed a still enthusiastic executive attitude towards e-commerce.

Some 94 per cent of Irish business leaders judged that Ireland’s future prosperity depends on e-commerce. The research also shows that 65 per cent of Irish executives are pursuing e-commerce to stay ahead of their competitors and 45 per cent are using it to help reduce their operating costs.

A trend uncovered by the report is the changing of the primary focus from gaining new customers to the deepening of customer relationships through the delivery of more tailored services.

The report can be downloaded from the Accenture Website at www.accenture.com
