Filter focuses on mail’s sender
Danish network security appliance provider SecPoint has unveiled its Grey Listing anti-spam technique. The firm claims the Grey Listing technique detects and blocks 75% to 85% of all spam before it enters the network.
The system, says SecPoint, does not rely on complicated analysis or other methods which may be flawed. Secpoint MD Victor Christiansen, explained that the technique works by verifying the legitimacy of the sender, whereas most other techniques focuses on the content of the mails. If the sender is legitimate, the mail is automatically white-listed and forwarded for delivery. Future mail from the same sender is identified as white-listed and delivered right away.
Most spammers use compromised “zombie” computers rather than their own mail servers, but the Grey Listing technique will block these, too.
Christiansen says the system is easy to use, and is free to users with a SecPoint Protector and a valid license.
