Facebook went offline for about half an hour this morning, leading to horrified gasps from around the Internet. This is a record outage for the social network, which hasn’t struggled with service issues before despite having a user base of 1.28 billion.
According to Gizmodo, the outage affected the US, Europe and parts of Asia as well as its developer platform.
Facebook has yet to issue a statement on what went wrong, beyond an error message posted on the site saying “somethng went wrong”. Many users took to complaining about the social network’s downtime on rival Twitter.
