Storage vendor EMC has introduced a new programme that enables customers to acquire EMC qualified third-party storage networking components directly from EMC that are frequently used with its own storage systems.
The first products offered through EMC Select Program include tape libraries, Host Bus Adapters (HBAs), and selected connectivity products, which are available in configurations that have been tested by EMC qualified for interoperability. Products in the programme will be available for sale by EMC’s direct sales force and partners.
‘EMC has the industry’s broadest and deepest portfolio of hardware, software and services for storage and information management,’ said Howard Elias, EMC’s executive vice president for corporate marketing. ‘Many of our customers include complementary third-party products in their ILM solutions and have asked EMC to provide these products. EMC Select offers customers a convenient way to obtain these additional components as they implement ILM solutions from EMC.’
Under the programme, EMC Select partners will directly deliver service and support for their specific products. EMC’s customer service organisation will continue to provide problem diagnosis and isolation for the entire infrastructure and will work in conjunction
with all of the vendors through mutual customer support agreements (CSAs). This ensures joint service cooperation, escalation and rapid mutual response to provide customers with high levels of application availability and uptime.
