Ekco continues MSP growth with Radius Technologies purchase
Managed cloud and security services provider Ekco has acquired Waterford-based Radius Technologies. Financial terms of the deal were not released.
This is the third acquisition by Ekco in the past 18 months following Unity, IT Force and Ortus.
The deal brings the total number of staff at Ekco to more than 650, of which more than 400 are based in Ireland. Ekco has made a series of recent acquisitions in Ireland in the cyber security space to complement its cloud strategy, acquiring Ward Solutions in 2021 and Kontex and Caveo Systems in 2022.
Speaking at Ekco’s introduction day to Radius’ staff, Steve MacNicholas, CEO, Ireland at Ekco, said: “We’re delighted to add a strong business like Radius technology to the group. We see a great fit between their people, their services and their customer base and the existing operations we have in the Irish market. Radius now gives us an additional regional presence with their head office in Waterford and a Cork office. For the Radius customer base we can introduce our extensive cyber security services through our 24/7 manned Security Operations Centre in Citywest Dublin. We are very excited that Radius is now a part of Ekco’s growth ambitions as a leading MSP.”
Prior to its acquisition by Ekco, Radius made two acquisitions: Waterford-based MSP Planet PC in 2007, and Fortuity, a Cork-based private cloud-focused managed IT infrastructure provider in 2019.
Radius Technologies CEO Jerry Buckley, said: “Joining Ekco makes perfect sense for Radius. Their ambition and vision for the future is something we are 100% aligned to and want to be a part of. Their approach to excellent customer service and delivering secure and reliable managed services is perfectly in tune with what we do, so its great news for our team, our customers and the senior management team at Radius.”
Founded in 2016 by Eoin Blacklock and Jonathan Crowe as a cloud back-up and disaster recovery business, Ekco has scaled rapidly across Ireland, the UK and the Netherlands through an ambitious buy-and-build programme.
It is now one of Europe’s fastest-growing, security-first cloud managed service providers. It manages its customers’ end-to-end IT infrastructure and cyber security needs with a team of highly skilled engineers and technology professionals with a broad range of expertise.
