Eircom has introduced a new mobile phone service, eMobile. Pitched as a complimentary brand to Meteor (which now has over 1 million users nationwide), eMobile’s flagship Seven 10 tarriff offers customers a weekly prepay package of 250 calls to any network or landline and 250 text messages for €10 per week. A tarriff adding 250Mb of Web access can be purchased for an extra €5 per week.
A series of bill pay options will be available, ranging in price from €14-€94 per month, with or without a data add-on. Existing customers of eircom’s fixed line and broadband services can also avail of a €5 discount on their eMobile bill.
EMobile is not expected to ‘cannibalise’ the existing Meteor subscriber base owing to the structure of its tarriffs and a marketing campaign targeting over customers over 30.
A range of 40 handsets will be available, including releases by HTC, LG, Samsung, Nokia and Sony Ericsson.
Emobile will be rolled out through a network of dedicated stores and through retailers Dixons, PC World, Currys, Carphone Warehouse and Xtravision.
