Dublin museums launch online exhibitions with Google Cultural Institute

Trinity College Dublin Library and the Little Museum of Dublin are launching online exhibitions on the Google Cultural Institute today.

More than 80 items from the Library of Trinity College Dublin’s collection relating to the Great War Revisited exhibition at Trinity College Dublin Library have been launched online at the Google Cultural Institute. Letters, diaries, photographs, videos, posters, pamphlets and artworks from 1914 to 2014 can now be accessed by anyone wherever they are in the world, right from their computer, tablet or phone.

In addition, 160 items have been launched online from the Dublin in the 20th Century exhibition from the Little Museum of Dublin.

The exhibition charts Dublin’s remarkable transformation in the last century from the violent birth of the Irish nation through to the 1990’s.

The Google Cultural Institute and its partners are putting the world’s cultural treasures at the fingertips of Internet users and are building tools that allow the cultural sector to share more of its diverse heritage online. The Google Cultural Institute has partnered with more than 800 institutions giving a platform to over 170,000 artworks and a total of 6 million photos, videos, manuscripts and other documents of art, culture and history.
