Digital Reality Trust to expand by 2011

Digital Realty Trust (DRT) plans to increase head count by 15% within the next year at its European head quarters in Blanchardstown, Dublin. The company provides solutions for over 50 of the Fortune 500 companies’ data centre requirements along with local organisations such Eircom, HEANet and Servecentric.

Since establishing its HQ office in 2006, DRT has invested almost €120 million in Ireland and employs 30 full time staff across European Marketing, IT, Corporate Accounting, Portfolio Management and Technical Operations. The company also owns three data centres in the greater Dublin area, providing flexible, reliable and cost-effective data centre solutions from data centre design and construction to comprehensive data centre management solutions.

DRT’s expansion plans now involve Ireland’s wealth of skilled labour, strong green initiatives, and its good location for airside economisation. The company plans to invest in Ireland and plays an active role in looking to fast track data centre infrastructure build within the country. “Our head office operations and activities in Dublin have gone from strength to strength since our establishment in 2006. We are excited by the plans to expand our headcount – and this is testament to the skilled employees we have here in Ireland and the advantageous environment,” said Bernard Geoghegan, senior VP of international operations.
