A new urban regeneration strategy aiming to support the creation of at least 450 digital jobs in Dun Laoghaire has been launched.

Led by the Dun Laoghaire Business Improvement District, Digital Dun Laoghaire is seeking scale-ups and multinationals to join the 60 digital companies already operating in the town.

Research carried out among these companies found that of respondents 4.35% intended to create up to 50 new jobs over the next 24 months, with 27% indicating they would be creating between six and 10 jobs.

The survey also revealed the biggest challenges facing companies in the digital sector were access to talent and access to supports for scaling the businesses.

Some 61% of the companies surveyed said being part of the Digital Dun Laoghaire cluster would increase the likelihood of their success and 52% said it would make it easier to recruit talent. A further 39% stated that the location would help win customers.

Since the establishment of the Dun Laoghaire Business Improvement District in 2014 100 new businesses opened in the town, creating more than 500 new jobs.

It is estimated that 2,500 developers; 8,600 multilingual sales & support staff; and 13,500 English speaking sales & support staff with experience in the digital industries live in the town.
