Dell delivers Centrino

Aimed at home and small business users, Dell has introduced the Inspiron 500m. This new thinner and lighter notebook features Intel’s new Centrino chipset which is designed to deliver lighter form machines, longer battery life and wireless connectivity for laptop users.

Starting at EUR1692, the 500m is powered by an Intel Pentium M processor with a clock speed of 1.3Ghz. It also features a Pro Wireless 2100 802.11b MiniPCI card, 256Mbyte of DDR SDRAM memory, a 14.1-inch screen, a 40Gbyte hard disk drive, and a 24x CD RW/8x DVD ROM combo drive. A more expensive configuration with a 1.6Ghz Pentium M processor is also available: this model features Dell’s TrueMobile 1300 wireless card, 256Mbyte of DDR SD RAM memory, a 14.1-inch screen, a 40Gbyte hard drive, and 24x CD RW/8x DVD ROM combination drive. It is priced at EUR2394.
