Business technology provider Datapac has completed a €100k VMware-based virtualised private cloud and high-speed network for The K Club hotel and leisure complex in Co Kildare.

Datapac will act as The K Club’s strategic technology partner and is providing consultation and IT solutions to the resort. The deal will mean major cost and power savings, and will help The K Club become carbon-neutral by 2020.

The luxury resort, set in 550 acres on a mile-long stretch of the River Liffey, includes hotel, spa, restaurants, conference facilities, shops, clubhouses and two international golf courses – which have hosted the 2006 Ryder Cup and the Smurfit European Open tournaments.

Future developments include plans to harness the power of the Liffey to generate electricity for the estate.

Datapac says the new solution has improved application performance, service availability, savings in costs and carbon output. Power savings alone over the next five years are projected at €90k.

The K Club’s Mojtaba Akbari, head of IT, notes: “The Datapac solution brings us many benefits, including improved management of our entire ICT infrastructure.”
