Making it better: Datapac’s John Jones, left, with the pharmacy group’s Patrick McCormack and Will Power

Datapac, the ICT solutions provider, has won a five-year managed-print contract for all Sam McCauley Chemists in Ireland.

The deal, worth €170k, will see Datapa’sc solution centralise the management of printing across the pharmaceutical group to cut costs, boost productivity, and raise customer service.

The solution will streamline and manage the entire print environment for the 24 retail outlets, using HP Laserjet printers. Datapac will centrally monitor and manage the printers for availability during opening hours. It will also facilitate the automated ordering and delivery of toner for every machine.

An additional benefit is that the system will help the retailers meet green IT targets through automated power-saving.

Datapac’s managed print specialist, John Jones, says: “The scalable solution will allow Sam McCauley’s to easily and cost-effectively expand their printer fleet as the company continues to grow.”

Sam McCauley Chemists’ IT manager, Will Power, said an efficient pharmacy “requires that its printers are reliable, robust and are repaired quickly if there is a problem.”

He added: “We now have one point of contact instead of ten, which has improved efficiency greatly across the group.”

Sam McCauley’s has been in operation since 1953. The group has over 550 staff and annual turnover of over €85 million.”
