Data terminals give ambulance service a new Lifeline

Ambulance provider Lifeline has fitted all of its ambulances in Ireland with fixed data terminals (FDT) that will replace two-way radios and ensure that all communications and actions during call-outs are logged and monitored.

Traditionally, all patients’ details were dispatched from the control centre to the ambulance crew over a two-way radio; the new FDTs will have information e-mailed and displayed on a 4″ screen that sits on the dash of the ambulance.
