Data Electronics has completed its €15 million expansion of its new green data centre in North Dublin. The data centre was originally opened in April of 2009 costing €25 million, the completion of the expansion marks the second phase of the development. The purpose of the expansion was to support additional growth opportunities and to keep up with an increasing customer demand.
The newly expanded facility has a green agenda, incorporating the use of innovative free-air cooling, which reduces energy consumption by 30-40%. Other green initiatives that have been implemented include running VMware on production servers and using infrared detectors to control illumination.
CEO of Data Electronics Maurice Mortell remarked that the development was a sign of Data Electronics’ commitment to its present and future clients.
